Reliance Jio's instant messaging (IM) app Jio Chat has crossed 2 million users in less than 6 months of its launch.
Jio Chat that has voice, video and conference call capabilities competes with Skype, WhatsApp, WeChat, Viber, Line and Bharti-promoted Hike Messenger.
The instant messaging app launched in April, can be accessed through any Internet-enabled smartphone over any data network and has offline feature that allows users to keep messages when their connection goes down or interrupted and can be accessed once online.
Jio Chat, according to the company, can be seamlessly integrated with other Reliance Jio applications and works on Android OS version 2.3 and above, and on Apple smartphones with an iOS version 6.0 and above.
Reliance Jio is currently working aggressively on its ambitious fourth-generation (4G) rollout which is expected by December this year and is banking on a gamut of app-based services, including mobile wallet and entertainment content.
Jio Money, an ambitious mobile wallet service of Reliance Jio is now under test run and is currently available for Jio employees only. This prepaid payment instrument will allow users to initiate instant payments and funds transfer over smartphone.
